We had an amazing time during our Black History Month weekend celebration. A huge thank you to everyone that attended. We started off with a great family movie, ‘Akeelah and the Bee’, followed by a replay of Dr. Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream speech and ended with our dramatic storyteller Daiseybelle Thomas-Quinney of Panola, AL who brought to life the story of Sojourner Truth.
Great things are happening at the Historic Pickensville Rosenwald Community Center & Museum! These are the first of many more wonderful events to come. The meal was superb and attendance was “standing room only”!
Daisybelle, in her unique and captivating way, knows how to bring alive the stories of our ancestors in a way that makes you feel that you were actually there! Our young 12 year old Soloist, Tahj Smith, had the audience on their feet and left them wanting more. Also Keira Huggins, 14 year old Senior Girl Scout Charmed the audience with a warm welcome making everyone feel right at home! The event was a huge success! Watch out world, here they come! Watch out for many more Events as this to come!
THE BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY WAS EDUCATIONAL AND AN EXPERIENCE THAT WILL LONG BE REMEBERED BY ALL WHO WAS IN ATTENDANCE. HOPEFULLY, OTHERS WILL GET ON BOARD THIS “TRAIN” WITH YOUR SUPPORT AND EXPERIENCE HISTORY.
